Delegates from our Business Units in Johannesburg and Pietermaritzburg and our guests from KUHN from France and Brazil arrived at Lord Charles Hotel, checked into rooms, and spent some free time.
The Welcome Cocktail Dinner heated the spirit to such an extent that some unknown individuals ended up in the pool in the middle of the night. Unconfirmed reports saw some technical inputs into this.
Tue 11 February
Mr Lindsay Green (MD Rovic Leers) welcomed the delegates, guests and guest speakers and introduced Prof M. Karaan (Dean, Faculty of AgriSciences, Stellenbosch) as the opening guest speaker who addressed us on: South African Agricultural Outlook 2020. He gave an interesting SWOT analysis, depicting the great opportunity of Agriculture against the backdrop of Political Risk.
Africa – Will we feed the world by 2030? Presented by Chris Burgess, Editor, Landbou Weekblad, followed, again pointing to the same opportunity and risk parameters to be considered.
Service delivery to Commercial Farmers. Presented by Mr Rossouw Cilliers, Laastedrift, SA 2013 Farmer of the Year, was the fresh breeze – the food for thought points to consider for ROVIC LEERS were to the point and formulated as part of our Key Care Customer programme for immediate implementation.
All guest speakers received a “sharp” gift from Rovic Leers as a token of appreciation. Mr Cillie was also presented with an invitation from ROVIC LEERS and KUHN to pay a visit to Europe with his wife in 2014.
The KUHN Presenters participating in the rest of the programme were: Mr. Gabriel THIERRY (Product Manager for the Kuhn La Copechagnière), Mr. Guillaume Delaunay (Technical assistant from KUHN Chateaubriand), Mr Elvio Ransolin (Export Sales from KUHN Brazil), Mr Dominique Nicolas, (Africa Export Manager, KUHN Group).
A KUHN product range introduction for evaluation of applicability to South African Conditions followed.
